Sven Erik Jørgensen is professor emeritus in environmental chemistry at the University of Copenhagen. He has published 370 papers of which 256 were published in peer-reviewed international journals and he has edited or authored 79 books, of which several have been translated to other languages (Chinese, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese). He has authored a successful textbook in ecological modelling “Fundamentals of Ecological Modelling”, which was published as a fourth edition together with Brian Fath in 2011. He is the editorial board member of 20 international journals in the fields of ecology and environmental management. He is the president of ISEM and he has been elected member of the European Academy of Science’s, for which he is the chairman of the Section for Environmental Sciences. He has received the Einstein Professorship of the Chinese Academy of Science. He has in 1975 founded the journal Ecological Modelling and in 1978 ISEM (International Society of Ecological Modelling). He has received several awards, The Ruder Boskovic Medal, The Prigogine Prize, The Pascal Medal, The Einstein professorship at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, The Santa Chiara Prize for multidisciplinary teaching and the very prestigious Stockholm Water Prize. The Encyclopedia of Environmental Management, edited by Sven Erik Jørgensen, received in 2013 the outstanding publishing achievement, “this year’s Outstanding Academic Title”.

His expertise is in hydrology, biogeography and remote sensing.He has taught courses in ecological modelling and systems ecology in 33 different countries.

Tobias Richards is a professor in energy recovery at University of Borås since 2010. He has a PhD in chemical engineering from Chalmers University of Technology and made his postdoctoral studies at University of Maine within the college of Engineering. He has published more than 30 papers in reputed journals and is the editor of a new book in the area of waste treatment (Resource Recovery to Approach Zero Municipal Waste). During the fall 2014 he was a visiting professor at University of California, Berkeley.

His expertise is research related to resource recovery with primary interest on thermal treatment and techniques such as pyrolysis, gasification and combustion.

Zhenqiang “Jack” Ma, Ph.D. is a professor in Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He received his B.S. degree in applied physics and the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 1991, and the M.S. degree in nuclear science and the M.S.E. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1997, and 2001, respectively. His doctoral research focused on the development of SiGe power heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs) for high frequency microwave applications.

Zhenqiang (Jack) Ma's energy research focuses on energy conversions with emphases on direct conversions of nuclear energy and solar energy. He is also interested in applying wireless and microwave techniques in next-generation nuclear power plants and power conversion of solar modules. He has specialized in semiconductor devices, materials and circuits for many years. Fast flexible electronics and nanophotonics are also his current intensively focused areas. He currently serves on the Executive Steering Committee for the IEEE Topical Meeting on Silicon Monolithic Integrated Circuits in RF Systems. He is elected Conference Chair of 2008 IEEE Topical Meeting on Silicon Monolithic Integrated Circuits in RF Systems to be held in Orlando, FL. His inventions include PIN Diodes for Photodetection and High-Speed, High-Resolution Image Sensing, Method for Double-Sided Processing of Thin Film Transistors, High-Power-Gain, Bipolar Transistor Amplifier, and Solid-State High Frequency High Power Device.

Ana Rosu is a Graduate of the faculty of biology, University of Bucharest and scientific researcher in the field of cell biology and plant biotechnology at the Institute of Biology, Romanian Academy of Sciences. She completed her PhD in Biology in 1987. She is a scientific research coordinator and is responsible for professional formation of young specialists as professor of plant biology and biotechnology of the faculty of biotechnology at University of Agronomical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest. She has published more than 70 articles in scientific journals; 24 scientific presentations at international and national scientific events.

Her research interest lies in the field of cell biology and plant biotechnology.

Andra Pedral Sampaioin holds Phd in Industrial Engineering - Organizational Intelligence from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2008), Master in Industrial Engineering - Business Management from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2002), Computer Specialist at Educational Center for Education Graduate Olga Metting (1999), Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (1986). He has extensive experience in the areas of Information Technology, Process Engineering, Hydrogen, Bioenergy, Energy Generated, Process Automation, Sustainable Development, Audit and Judicial Skill. Winner of the South Regional – Santander and Winner of 4th Prize Santander Science and Innovation with the project OPTIMUS: Creating a method for assessing the strategic management informed by MCDA-C; Coordinates of the APOLLO research group, developing research projects in the areas of technology, robotics, organizational strategies, clean energy and sustainable development. Creator, researcher and coordinator of the Engineering courses of the Faculty of Technology of Valença / Ba – FACTIVA. Founder of FACTIVA's Technology Center. Professor and researcher at the Federal University of Bahia – UFBA. Coordinator and researcher of the research groups: NDTA – FACTIVA: Advanced Technology Development Center Factiva; And GPAPOLLO – UFBA: Apollo Research Group – UFBA.

His research interest lies in the areas of technology, robotics, organizational strategies, clean energy and sustainable development.

André Luiz de Carvalho has completed his Ph.D in Energy and Nuclear Technologies at the age of 30 years from Federal University of Pernambuco and postdoctoral studies from Federal University of Alagoas, in Brazil. He has experience in agrometeorology, solar radiation and climate modeling and biogeochemistry and he has published some papers in journals about meteorology and climatology, including issues related to the impacts of climate changes on agriculture. -

His research interests include agrometeorology, solar radiation and climate modeling and biogeochemistry.

Mr. Garvin is the former Technology Transfer Specialist for the University of Iowa. He designed entrepreneurial studies courses in that position. He has developed seven start-up companies in the state of Iowa, Wisconsin and Texas. True to both definition of a paradigm shift specialist, Garvin has spent the last 20 years helping to effect changes in complex systems in the economy. In the 1990s, while working with the University of Wisconsin (Madison) and later at the University of Iowa, he helped research, design and introduce technical developments to the medical industry that resulted in an overhaul of safety practices and safety equipment used in hospitals and medical facilities nationwide. He has directed a number of research projects around electric transportation and fuel cells at Iowa State University and continues to direct technology and financial analysis projects for the energy sector with student groups at the University of Iowa.

Gleb Yushin is a Professor of the School of Materials and Engineering at The Georgia Institute of Technology. He joined MSE in July 2007 and has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Roland B. Snow Award from the American Ceramic Society, NASA Nano 50 Award, various best poster awards from the Electrochemical Society, Materials Research Society, and North American Membrane Society meetings, and multiple awards at ceramographic competitions. His recent work was featured on the cover of Nano Letters and was covered by Nature, Science, Advanced Functional Materials, Innovation Philadelphia Newsletter, Philadelphia Business Journal, and Frost & Sullivan, among others.

Gleb Yushin's research interests include nanoporous carbide derived carbon - based materials and devices for energy, environment and bio-related applications.

Reza Nekovei is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Reza Nekovei has been conducting research in the field of Micro/Nano scale integrated circuit design for over 15 years, including modeling of circuits for nano-electronic devices.

Dr. T.T. Chow received his PhD from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland. He is currently the Associated Professor and Director of the Building Energy and Environmental Technology Research Unit at the City University of Hong Kong. He has 400 academic publications, including over 130 SCI journal articles and with over 3,000 Scopus citations. He has been serving as members of many journal editorial boards, such as the Journal of Building Performance Simulation. He also contributes to many reputable international conferences as committee members and invited speakers. He holds fellow membership in many professional institutions, such as FASHRAE and FCIBSE.

Building Energy and Environment

Meilin Liu is a professor at the School of Materials Science & Engineering and Co-director for Center for Innovative Fuel Cell and Battery Technologies at Georgia Institute of Technology.

Meilin Liu's research interests include developing novel materials for energy storage and conversion, for chemical sensing, and for hydrogen production and separation. In addition, he is also interested in microscopic modeling of mass and charge transport in solid electrochemical systems and polarization at interfaces.

He has extended his valuable service as a Professor at the Amar Telidji University of Laghouat- Algeria and has been a recipient of many award and grants. His international experience includes various programs, contributions and participation in different countries for diverse fields of study. His research interests as a Professor reflect in his wide range of publications in various national and international journals. He has published many papers in various journals and conference proceedings on renewable energy and has served as an editorial board for several journals and committee member for international conferences. He is a reviewer of many journals such as: Solar Energy, Conversion Energy and Management Journal, Electronics Journal, International Journal of Engineering Innovations and Research, Measurement, International Journal of Electronics, Energy and Buildings and Journal of Applied Electrochemistry I was the President of the Scientific Committee at the Electrical Engineering Department- Amar Telidji University of Laghouat, Algeria.
